What's up Eileen Fisher?

Eileen Fisher, 58, took her vision of comfortable, stylish clothes and turned it into a very successful company.

Eileen Fisher stood out because she didn't use typical models for her ads. She used women, ages 30, 40, 50+.

Not much make up, very natural, like Eileen herself. Her models were the ages of the women purchasing her clothes. It was refreshing.

Now, in order to grab the younger market she has joined the other designers in featuring 20 somethings.  Too bad.  I'll miss the ads that stood out as Eileen Fisher. Now they look like everyone elses.

Plus side, she still offers beautiful clothes.

My sister is finally here. Apart form not having seen her in ages she brings with her the joy of photography, and it's actually fun posing. We went to get some toiletries she needed as she brought merely a half empty small suitcase of clothes and two pairs of shoes. She is staying here more than I am. I should take note, really, but then again now she needs to buy stuff and borrow half of my things which I'm of course happy to lend. Sisterhood and all, right? Hooray!

On Beauty

I have been listening to the audio book, On Beauty.

The Narrator, Peter Francis James, does a great job with all of the voices.  (A narrator can make or break a book.)

The characters center around two antagonistic Rembrandt scholars in a Massachusetts college town. The two men and their families deal with issues of class, race, political conflicts, midlife and teen-life crises.

The last few weeks, as most of you know, have been awashed under fashion weeks across the fashion capitals of the world. NYFW was spent in delirious preparation for LFW, LFW was spent in my own pop up shop or on the plane to Brazil and MFW as well as PFW was witnessed vicariously through blogger friends, online fashion magazines, visual scrapbooks and live streamings. Sometimes, especially when working on my own collection and putting down the blogger hat which sort of drops down the side, just hanging off my hairdo whilst my designer hat firmly sits on top, girlfriend needs a helping hand.

You know those theater pieces, films and such, that are meant to be comedies but can get your mouth to curl at most? It doesn't mean you don't enjoy them, but you're not pissing yourself either.

That's how I have felt about most of the collections that have been shared with my second hand eyes. Some gorgeous pieces, many classic and clean lines just how I like them (hint hint). However, whilst following another of the daily updates by The Clothes Whisperer my heart stopped only to catch up again at double speed. The equivalent of actually peeing yourself with laughter.

And since girlfriend was not able to attend said collection, which is good as I may have created a scene trying to steal it, girlfriend is in need of other girlfriends to borrow some visuals to support my musings. Voila, here's a piece of my heart, images courtesy of Kristin Knox who did all the work to share with me (*cough* and the zillion other readers *cough*) that piece of genius. Oh, and by the way, Rochas can sit by me for as long as they like.

Perfection. The color, the hem, the volume, the length... *sigh*

OH, HAPPY DAY

I woke up this morning...

Then I got really into the moment and decided to listen to the whole damn soundtrack/videos on YouTube while getting ready... I heart my droid.

Museum Day

I spent Monday with Raquel in San Francisco. We went to the MoMA and Contemporary Jewish Museum.

I was excited to see the exhibit of Maira Kalman: Various Illuminations (of a Crazy World). It was really good.

I think she and I are connected on a deep level  :)   She has two illustrations of  images I have posted about. The modern room and the polka dot boots. That proves it right?! No photography allowed in the museum and I can't find an image of the boot. Sorry.

 Maira has a few books I want and fun blog.

The other day I was browsing through RaleighVintage, one of my favorite Etsy vintage shops to drool over, and came across this cute vintage cardigan from the 60's. I personally like it a lot because it reminds me quite a bit of some similar offerings from ModCloth and Urban Outfitters. This is obviously not a new article of clothing, but for the price I think it would be a smart alternative to buying a brand new piece from another shop that costs 4 times as much.




Perhaps next time I go shopping online, I'll check on Etsy to see if there are some real vintage options that I could save some money on.

These are the throw-aways for a variety of reasons, off center, too dark, etc.  I am thinking of making a small mosaic table top with all of my images. It is fun to look back and remember.

This part of my business is really fun. People send in photos of children, pets, team logos, wedding photos, art work, etc.
