Amelie may just be my favorite movie of all time. It's all subtitled, since the actors speak French (how dare they!), but I actually quite like foreign films and subtitles don't bother me in the least. I remember when my older sister first showed the movie to me and kept having to turn the TV off during the "French movie" parts. Thank you, Lindsey! On my trip to France this summer I was so excited to get to go to the Amelie carousel, which is right at the bottom of the Sacre Coeur, the church that sits on top of Montmatre. It's not actually called "The Amelie Carousel", but they filmed a scene from the movie there so that's what I call it. I'm going to post the picture here, but you have to promise not to laugh at me because I look ridiculous. My bag did not show up when we arrived to Paris and I had to wear the same clothes for two days. Janell's (my friend that I went on the trip with) bag showed up after a day, but mine still hadn't come so I borrowed a shirt from her. She is a size XS/S, though, so it definitely was not the greatest fit for me, but it was clean and that's all I cared about at that point. Also, all of my makeup was in my bag, so I went 3 whole days in Paris without an ounce of makeup. Aren't you guys proud of me?
That is my "I really don't want any pictures of myself right now, but I would feel lame for coming all the way to Paris and not getting a picture with the freaking Amelie carousel when it was right next to me" smile.Definitely not my ideal way to spend time in Paris, but I guess in the long run I didn't go to Paris to be seen, I went to Paris to see.
Anyways, my whole intention of writing this blog was to share two cute Amelie things I found on Etsy. And then I got off topic, but oh well. Tangents are fun!
