Online Tracking

Lately, ads for Loubautin shoes have been popping up on Google, Yahoo!, whatever site I seem to be on. I thought, "what a coincidence, I have done a few posts on these shoes".  Turns out, it is not a coincidence, I should have known.

This same thing happened to Julia Angwin, a Wall Street Journal reporter. She recently discovered that nearly all of the most commonly visited websites are using sophisticated software to track our movements through the Web so they can sell the information they get about us. In many cases, the sites actually install tracking software on our home computers without our knowledge.

She did a report for The WSJ and was interview on NPR's Fresh Air.

It is really interesting, and we all should be aware!  See her report here.
