I have been applying to jobs like a mad woman lately (if you're been paying attention to my tweets), and at this point in the post interview application process, I have been hearing nothing but positive responses.
Now I'm in limbo/the waiting stage...
Hoping to high hell that the offers start coming in (relatively) soon.
Cross your fingers for me!!!!

Happy Thursday!
Woo-freaking-Hoo for the 4 day work week this week!
The only benefit of working on Saturday is that it's a half day--
count yourselves lucky :)

p.s. SexyMan spotted in the workplace today!
Looking forward to more on that one later...

My Lovely Boss - Prayer Request

Today I want to share a bit (OK, so maybe more like a lot) with you guys about my boss. I've been debating a bit about whether or not it's my place to tell the whole internet about it, but her family has been very open about it on facebook so far so I don't think they would mind me posting here.

So anyways, back to my boss. Technically she is my boss, but I have known her long before I worked for her as we go to the same church. Her name is Tiffany and she's been going through some very serious medical issues the past few weeks. It all started about a year ago when her and her husband made the decision for Tiffany to be a surrogate mother. They made a connection with a couple that had been trying for over 9 years to have children of their own, and everything was finalized for Tiffany to have a child for them.
Tiffany and her husband.
Fast forward several months and they found out that Tiffany was carrying twins. Happiness all around, especially when they found out it was a boy and a girl. The real parents were thrilled and everything was going great.

In January Tiffany started having some issues with bleeding and her doctor put her on full time bed rest. That's the reason that I went from working 1 day a week to 6 days. So for most of January and all of February, she was on bed rest while I worked at the store. At the end of February, Tiffany was still having some issues with bleeding and they decided to induce labor and have her deliver the babies. On February 28th, she had both of the babies, who were both healthy and a good size considering that they were about a month and a half early. Tiffany, however, wasn't doing so great and they couldn't control her bleeding, so she had to be taken in for emergency surgery right after giving birth.

The doctors realized that the only way they would be able to save Tiffany's life and stop the bleeding was to do a hysterectomy (for the younger crowd reading this, that's where they take out a woman's uterus). Tiffany already has two younger boys (I don't their exact ages, but I think it's something like 8 and 6?), but it was still hard for her and her family to realize she would never be able to have another child.
Tiffany and her mom a few days after having the twins.
Feeding one of the babies.
Tiffany's doctor told her to stay at home and rest for several weeks, and she was tentatively scheduled to come back to work the last week of March (this week, actually). She was feeling a lot better and even came into the store one day to check up on things and make sure I hadn't burned the whole place down or anything. She was still in a lot of pain in her abdominal area from giving birth and the surgery that followed, but she was doing much better and was able to get around on her own.

Then things went downhill again very quickly. On the 15th of March, Tiffany wasn't feeling well, laid down on the floor in her house, and had a seizure. Praise God, her husband Jeff was home. He is an EMT and did what he could to help her while they waited for the ambulance to come. They took her straight to the hospital, at which point she coded and her heart completely stopped for a full 2 minutes before they were able to revive her. They determined that the cause of her heart stopping was an acute pulmonary embolism (which in plain English is basically a blood clot). She had to be put on a ventilator with tubes down her throat while she was sedated.

After about 2 days in the hospital recovering from the embolism, Tiffany had another scare when her blood pressure started dropping rapidly. They realized that she was bleeding internally in her stomach so she was taken in for exploratory surgery to find out what was causing the bleeding. They didn't actually find the main source, but they managed to stop the bleeding and things began to get better again. She was able to sit up and talk to her family, and had even started walking a little bit again.

Though she was still in the hospital, Tiffany was doing great up until Monday morning (the 21st). At that time, they were going to move her from the ICU to a different floor because she was doing so much better. In order to move her, though, they needed to remove her central IV line. As they were removing the IV, and air bubble got into her vein and caused her to have an air embolism. The air bubble traveled to her brain and she had a stroke. She was put on life support and had to be life-flighted (yup, in a helicopter) to Portland, where the nearest hyperbaric chamber is. Hyperbaric chambers are commonly used to treat divers who suffer from decompression sickness, but they also use them to treat air embolisms to try to burst the air bubble.
Not Tiffany, but this is the chamber at the hospital where Tiffany is.
After her first treatment in the hyperbaric chamber they did an MRI on Tiffany's brain. Unfortunately the MRI showed damage to both sides of her brain. She was pretty sedated through the process, but they could tell that she had no control over the right side of her body. Her left side had normal reflexes and she could follow some basic commands with it, but nothing on the right side

As of today, Tiffany is no longer sedated. Apparently she was making some small movements on the right side of her body last night (gently squeezing her dad's hand, wiggling toes, etc.) so that is a huge improvement. She is unable to talk at the moment, though. Her husband has asked her if she wants to talk but just doesn't know how to form the words, and she nodded yes. Imagine wanting to talk and say words but not being able to force your mouth to open and speak! The doctors and her family are all hoping that the damage to her brain will heal itself and that she will make a full recovery, but as of now all we can do is wait and see how much control she regains on her own.

She will have two more treatments in the hyperbaric chamber (they do 2-3 hour treatments), and from there it will still just be a waiting game to see how much damage there really is and if it will heal on its own or if she will require rehabilitation.

----

While Tiffany's situation is far more pressing and serious, I've been having somewhat of a rough time myself during all of this. While I have been working here alone for more than 2 months now, I always was able to call Tiffany and ask her questions if I ever needed any help, and she still would come in and help me take care of online orders even though she was on bed rest. Obviously, during the past 2 weeks, she has been completely unable to contact so I've pretty much been on my own. There have been a few issues with angry customers, emails to answer, and tasks that I have no clue how to do. I've been trying my hardest to figure everything out and to keep people happy, but I have to admit I feel like I'm not doing a very good job.

During all of this, though, I am amazed at how good God has been to us all. Through facebook, Tiffany's husband, mother, and sister have been sharing constant updates and people all over the country have heard of this situation and are lifting Tiffany up in prayer - even some people in other countries have heard and are praying as well! Her family has never doubted that God is in control of this situation. And even amidst my bumbling around and trying to make sense of all these orders and things I don't understand, I can see where God is helping and guiding me through it.

So, I don't know how everyone here feels about God and prayer, but if you are the praying sort of person, feel free to add Tiffany to your prayer list. She has gone through so much the past month... it's almost unreal how much her body has gone through. Please pray that her brain will heal and that she will have no lasting or permanent damage. To think that all of this started with the selfless decision to give up her own time and comfort to help out a couple who couldn't have their own children is truly amazing to me. She is a wonderful woman. I wish you could all meet her.

Sorry for the text-heavy post, but I really wanted to share with you guys and I hope you will join me in praying for her.

RIGHT NOW

Trying to figure a few lot of things out in my life right now.
I may be taking a break--I just haven't decided what to do.

What I Do At Work

I love my job. For those of you (which would be most of you) who don't know, I work at a children's clothing store. I'm the only one that works here other than my boss, and she is currently out on bed rest because she just had twins, so that's why I've been working so much lately. So while she's resting at home, I take care of the store.

My favorite part about this job is that my boss lets me do whatever I want to the store. I can rearrange, move, and decorate to my heart's delight. My sisters will be able to tell you that I love to move furniture around in my room frequently, so to have a whole store to organize however I like is practically a dream come true. Sometimes it's hard to move the bigger displays all on my own, but that's half the fun in my opinion.

Anyways, today I decided to redo the front window. One of the displays we have in the window is a child mannequin that would probably freak me out a bit except that it doesn't have a face (well, actually that sounds kind of creepy on it's own...). A few weeks ago I had dressed up this mannequin as a little dancer girl, and she looked like this:
Look, I even made her plush little hands hold her other shoe!
Anyways, I decided that this time around the cute little girl was going to be a cute little boy. That's the main advantage of a faceless mannequin, in case you didn't know.

So here is mid-process, with several different shirt and shoe options, and my poor little boy mannequin that I de-armed:
I eventually decided to make him a classy little boy and dress him up in a vest and tie. How precious.

And here he is, getting ready to make his front window debut. Go get 'em, ya classy little bugger.

So yeah, now you know what I spent the last hour working on. Thrilling, I know.

COOTD ME LIKE-Y

Courthouse COOTD today... and liquor store COOTD... because I was lazy and didn't feel like changing between jobs:

Please excuse the horrible camera-phone-mirror shots... the mirror is ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!
And my face in this shot... lol it's pretty horrible too... I look confused.

COOTD:
Shoes: Michael Kors (purchased via eBay for $4), Tank: Target, Pants: Banana Republic
Not pictured, but worn most of the day, a simple black cardigan, also from Target.

p.s. I like MNG and he likes ME :)

COOTD SEX VIBES

According to friends/customers of the liquor store...
My outfit/hair combo is giving off 'sex vibes'.

Apparently the messy hair and over-sized shirt are screaming "just been did" in an unskankified (yes, that is a word) way.
Very unintentional, the "just been mused" look, but compliments, although not entirely the kind I want, are much appreciated.

I'm going to get back to shoving my nose to the grindstone, a.k.a. running the liquor store, while not doing my home work or something else that is productive to my life (or lack thereof) outside work.

COOTD ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL

Don't skip sleep and drive.
Also, don't come home at 9AM, nap for 2 hours, then think that you can stay out until 3AM and be okay.
That is just silly.
And really fucking stupid.

Welcome to this week, one of the longest of my life :)

I have a new favorite place by the way... it's Fells Point in Baltimore.
I'm about 3 years late in figuring this out, my bad.
I don't recommend trying to play catch up in one week... not the smartest thing I've ever done.

Here is the outfit from last night:

I'm a bit addicted to these boots.
Thank you Target.
Dress from H&M--definitely one of my top 5 pieces that I've purchased from H&M.

In all seriousness... I need to get my schedule situated and/or carve out some hours... I am not getting enough sleep. I really did conk out for a split second driving home last night. NOT SMART AT ALL! I should have called my night short earlier than I did, but I was having too good of a time.
I missed out on a lot of things during the last 5ish years and I feel that RIGHT NOW is the time for me to get some of my life back, to put some fun back into it. I should try to lighten my schedule, but instead I keep cramming more and more into it--it's just the way of life that I'm used to--busy, busy, busy.
Thanks to MNG for keeping me awake on the phone last night. I would have been screwed. After the whole nodding off of the highway (THANK GOD the road was empty), I was tempted to just pull off and get a hotel (lol to being 35 minutes away from home--kinda crazy that I could barely make the drive), but then I decided to pick up the phone. Talking all the way home to someone on the phone SAVED my ASS!

With that said: I am going to make a conscious effort to GET SOME SLEEP and get my work done at a normal hour. I can't afford  to have any life accidents. No Sireeeeeee!

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY

I told you all about my old DA creeper from the courthouse... (see here)

Well I was in an especially chipper mood this morning... lack of sleep and all.
In my state of sleeplessness I made him a valentine.
LOL

I'm such a dork.

He was cracking up... as was everyone in (both) the courthouse(s) who I showed my valentine to.

FREE TIME, FUN TIME

Where has my free time been going lately?

Free time? When and where I do I find it in my crazy ass schedule you ask?
I know that you're asking this question, I ask myself this question often.

I'll let you in on a little secret...

In addition to being part Mexican (you know, because hot sauce runs through my veins all thanks to my birthing in the small town of Yuma, Az--all of .2 miles from the border) I am also part magician. My uncle LeRoy, twice removed, was married to one of those ladies who would get sawed in half by Harry Houdini.
[ This is most definitely a lie--I just wanted to be honest with you loyal readers... as for all of you first time readers, I don't feel bad leading you on right now:
Thanks to my uncle LeRoy's wife I'm part magician :) ]

Getting to the point, when I need a little extra time I just tap into my magician heritage and make the free time magically appear out of thin air. It's a pretty awesome magic trick if I may say so. When I finally get my free time to appear, I tend to find myself at places where freakishly nice, tall, and funny guys frequent. Or I just wait for them to come into the liquor store, heckle me, then agree to go out with them :)

Enter my evening with MNG, aka Mister Nice Guy... yeup, that's going to be his handle from here on out (on both da blog and on my twitter).
I made the executive decision on the nickname today.
I find it very fitting.

Last night was overall a pretty great night.
If you were following my tweets (like you should be) after 10ish you would have heard about it ;)

And to top all the great-ness off, I went to the bano and came back to flowers!
It was pretty cute and a nice gesture--just on of the many reasons he's getting dubbed MNG.

**After I took them home and trimmed them up**

No COOTD available for this post... I actually wore the same outfit that is my current blogger ID. I was a little bit lacking in the outfit creativity... I'll try better next time :)

COOTD CASUAL IS HOW I ROLL

As soon as I get home from the courthouse I either throw on a pair of sweats and take a nap, or just pass out in a disarray of clothing that I've shed on the way into the warmth of my bed... THEN I jump my happy ass out of bed and throw on the most comfortable clothes I own and drive to work.

Comfy, comfy, comfy is my after work and weekend wardrobe.

How do you down dress after work and on the weekends?

WHAT I'M DRINKING: LINDEMANS KRIEK LAMBIC

Starting a little bit of a new/old thing tonight (old in the sense that I used to talk about my tasteful alcohol consumption back in the early days of this 'ole site of mine)...

In addition to "What I'm Wearing" and "What I'm Tuning Into" I present you with... "What I'm Drinking"

On tonight's menu:

Lindemans Kriek (pronounced "Creek") Lambic
(Retail--in the $6-8 range for a pint bottle)

Simply stated, but not simple in the least, a cherry beer, which if you do not already know:

This beer is ABSOLUTELY delicious!!!

It has a very rounded cherry flavor, not too sweet, not at all bitter, just a little tart--just how I like my beers of flavor.

The color is a very rich berry color (like a cross between a fresh summer cherry and a ripe plum), which only emphasizes the flavor--yes, color has a lot to do with flavor, at least in my mind... I like both my foods and my beverages to look good--in my mind, they taste better that way.

My old boss from The Season's Bistro recommended having this beer over vanilla ice cream, like a root beer float. I bet if you served this with CHERRY ice cream your world would come to an end. If you try it out this way, be sure to give me a heads up to the end of your world... who knows, you and I might be the same shoe size (only in my dreams), or you might have excellent taste in music. If that's the case--WRITE ME IN YOUR WILL... NOW! (Please and thank you.)

MY RECOMMENDATION:

A SCHEDULED LIFE

Here is to hoping that the courthouse finds excess funds in the next 30 days--
I believe that is about how long I'm going to last on this schedule.

Go ahead, click that sucker and make it full size.
You'll cry your eyes out.
I know I am.

Seriously, if I don't make up something like this (schedule shown above) I wouldn't be able to function. I have to be able to see what is 'plan' is for the day/week/month....

All I can think of when I look at this is:
  • Where the hell am I going to have time to get some serious shut eye?
  • When am I supposed to clean the house/my room?
  • Is there any time for FUN?
  • Is it time for a vacation yet?
  • Oh and most importantly, when am I supposed to fit in time for reading and writing papers for graduate school (except for on Sunday)?

COOTD ALL ZIPPED UP

This morning's "work" outfit:

TOP: Zippered Shoulder Blouse (T.J. Maxx) (Brand to come later--forgot)
BOTTOMS: Banana Republic Slacks (I'm pretty sure that they are Martin Fit)
HEELS: Banana Republic Ramona Platform Sandal (last seen here)
ACCESSORIES: Michael Kors Watch & Gorjana Chloe Necklace

This top has gold zippers on the shoulders--that actually zip to increase or decrease the size of the boat neck.
Just one of the many reasons as to why this shirt is awesome, in addition to being cheap from T.J. Maxx, the material is pretty awesome, and comfortable, and the shirt as a whole is pretty flattering (on me, I think).
It was definitely a great find and buy!

Here are the rest of the photos:

Thanks to my lil sister-cousin for crawling out of bed on her snow day to snap a few quick COOTD shots.

I seriously LOVE these shoes.

I tweeted earlier:

and the statement is most definitely true.

I went all girlie giddy (this is the third time I've used this word tonight--WTF)
every time I looked down at my heels.
I friggin' LOVE wearing heels now!

LOVE IT!

CHIC-FIL-MY BELLY

Thanks to Sarah my tummy was very full this morning at work!

She brought me Chic-fil-A for breakfast... it was my first Chic-fil-A breakfast experience...

It was quite tasty and delicious and very very bad for my eating plan.

Seeing as how I've been especially good at not snacking this past month I think that I'm allowed have a "treat" lol.
