Lacey

Top: UO --- Necklace: F21 --- Shorts: Target --- Wedges: Kohls --- Purse: Thrifted
Two outfit posts in a row consisting of me wearing shorts... what is the world coming to? Since I haven't been working I don't have as much cause to dress up quite so much, so shorts it is.
I got this pink lace top from UO when I went up to Portland to hang out with Lea. Have any of you bought anything in UO lately? Aren't their new shopping bags awesome? I feel like I need to buy something every time I go in now just so I can get another bag. I save them all. Good for you, Urban Outfitters, you have successfully figured out how to buy my love.
OK, so do any of you guys have Netflix? If so, what are you favorite movies on Instant Play? I'm looking for new, good movies to watch, but I think their navigation is kind of useless and I can never find anything good browsing the sections. Anyways, if you've got a favorite movie on IP, please let me know and I might love you forever! (I love documentaries, dramas, foreign movies, action, thrillers, and comedies. So pretty much anything. Except not really scary movies... unless it's a really good scary movie.)
And lest you think I'm all take and no give, I'll share some of my favorites for you to watch if you feel so led:

Paper Heart - It's got Michael Cera in it! What else do you need to know? Many thanks to Kira for recommending this one.
State of Mind - An excellent documentary about 2 North Korean girls training for the Mass Games.
Downton Abbey - Costumes and sets to die for, friends.
Arrested Developement - Pretty much the funniest TV show ever.

I mostly use Netflix to watch TV shows and documentaries, in case that wasn't apparent. :)

Maxi

I'm baccckk! Well, I've actually been back for 3 weeks, but as you've probably noticed I've been posting the guest posts that didn't get up while I was on my trip. I've been out of blogging for so long that it'll probably take me a while to get back in the swing of things. I also have some big life changes coming up here pretty soon (i.e. moving, starting college, all that fun stuff...), so we'll see how this goes. Things may be kind of sporadic around here for a while.

Maxi: H&M --- Sandals: UO --- Necklace: Croatia
These pictures are from about 2 weeks ago when I first got back from Bosnia and my hair was a funky gold-ish color on top mixed with my overgrown roots. Needless to say, I got that taken care of very soon afterwords, so my hair is now back to red again. I still wanted to post this, though, because I love this dress. Only $15 at H&M (regularly priced!). I'm excited to move to the big city this fall, but I do fear I may go broke from shopping at H&M all the time...

Also, this is a necklace I got in Croatia (Europe is quite lovely for the fact you can drive 2 hours and be in a completely different country) and am quite enamored with it.

Miss Independent

Top and Belt: Thrifted --- Skirt and Sandals: UO --- Necklace: F21 --- Purse: Target --- Rings: Handmade
I think I've been bitten with the hair bug. No, not lice. I mean the bug to always want to do something new with my hair. I adore my bangs and the color I got just 2 weeks ago, but I'm already planning the next big hair upheaval. It's kind of interesting that I got a comment from Tamara yesterday that I would look good as a blond, because I've actually been wanting to try that for a while. Don't worry, it would be a while before I did anything as drastic as that, but what do you think?

I applied for Independent Fashion Bloggers two days ago and I finally got approved last night. I doubt they actually turn anyone down, but I have to admit I got a little nervous after I hadn't be accepted after their stated 24 hour window. Mean! Anyways, if you are a fashion blogger and haven't checked it out yet, IFB is actually pretty neat and has lots of good articles and info. You can click on the IFB icon in my sidebar to see more.

And I just have to say I giant I'm sorry to anyone that was looking forward to a mini wallet tutorial today. I forgot to take the camera home from work with me yesterday. I will try to do it Sunday afternoon and get the tutorial up on Monday. So you still have plenty of time to dust off those sewing machines!

The Case of the Missing Earring

Earring: Charlotte Russe --- Cardigan and Top: UO --- Belt: Forever21 --- Skirt: Thrifted --- Wedges: Kohls --- Clutch: Etsy/58BlueBirds
Man oh man, this skirt is like my #1 favorite thrift find ever. How much do I love it? I'm not sure exactly, but I loved it enough to buy it even though it was about 5 sizes too big for me and barely stayed up over my hips. I begged my mom to fix it for me, so she, being the genius she is, cut holes on the inside of the waistband and put some elastic through it. Now it fits perfectly around my waist. Y'all should be jealous she's my mom an not yours.

Did I mention it's Nicole Miller? It is was only $3? Because it's both! It's a thrifting score for the ages.
This morning when I got to work I noticed something weird. On one ear, I had an earring. On the other, I didn't. There are 3 possibilities of what happened to said missing earring.
1) I only put one on because I was thinking about unicorns or some other deeply interesting thing like that.
2) I did put the 2nd one off, but it fell off sometime between when I put it on (duh) and when I looked in the mirror at work (doubly duh).
3) The monster that lives in my ear ate it.
The world may never know.

Yesterday I made myself a new baby wallet. I've been getting tired of having to empty out my regular sized wallet every time I use a small clutch, so I finally got around to making myself a miniature one that will fit in any and all of my purses.
So I know several of you guys asked for a tutorial on the skirts I've been making, and I still want to do one of those in the future, but would you be interested in a mini-wallet tutorial? They're actually really simple and take only about 15-20 minutes to make once you get the hang of it. And they're super cheap, too, because they don't use much fabric. Anyways, let me know if you'd be interested, and based on your responses I may or may not do one.

Outfit: For the Love of Yellow

Necklace: Target --- Top & Purse: Forever21 --- Belt: Thrifted --- Skirt and Rings: Handmade --- Sandals: Urban Outfitters
Today I am declaring that yellow is my new favorite color. I love it with blue, I love it with green, I love it with orange... I love it! The color of this skirt isn't quite as mustard-y as I was going for, but I like it anyways because it's still yellow

Making all these skirts is infectious... I've made all three that I bought fabric for and all I want to do is go buy more fabric to make more of them. All things considered they're pretty cheap. Between the fabric, thread, and elastic I'd say each one costs about $10. It's not as cheap as thrifting them, but it's way cheaper than buying from a store. Plus I get to pick out the fabric with is mountains of fun. With thrifting and regular shopping you just have to keep your fingers crossed that you'll find something with a sweet print or color. With sewing you know you'll get a sweet print or color.
If you have a foot phobia or something, I apologize. I just really like the straps on these sandals and wanted to show them off. :)

Green Glass Ring, Olive Swarovski Ring, Blue Kyanite Ring
Scored this necklace on the clearance rack at Target for $4.48 or something ridiculously cheap like that. Thanks, Target!

Outfits: Dressing Up

March 15-
If I ever try the 30/30 Challenge, this dress is definitely going in the line-up. It is hands down my favorite item in my closet and I am so happy that my mom talked me into it (when I first tried it on I was on the fence; she was the one that made me decide on it) for my graduation. I am tired of having to layer over and under it, though. Mr. Sun, please come back to me soon!

March 16-
This was my second vintage dress that I bought on Etsy, but for reasons unknown, I've never worn it before. It's super cute and breezy and I can't wait to wear it more this summer.

My wild woman hair is kind of getting out of control. I desperately need a haircut before I turn into Cousin It. That would be no bueno.

Outfits: Skippy Doo for New Shoes!

March 11-
I scored myself some sweet little gray oxfords from UrbanOg, as well as two other pairs of shoes I don't need but wanted anyways. You can see them/buy them HERE if you like. I'm kind of wishing I bought the camel ones now, but too late. The gray ones are plenty cute and I think I'll be able to wear them with more outfits.

Anyways, I'm quite proud of this outfit. I managed to combine a chiffon dress with a "boyfriend" sweater (don't ask me why they named it that, they just did) and not look like a total bum. Well, at least I don't think I look like a total bum.

March 12-
These new lovelies are some flat ankle booties. I should have taken a picture of the insides... they have the cutest floral print in there. I really wanted the brown version but those didn't come in my size. Boo! You can check them out HERE.

Hope you are all having lively Saturday afternoons (I meant to type "lovely", but I suppose lively works, too)! Don't forget to enter my giveaway!

Outfits: The Lost Look, the White Dress, and the Petri Dish

March 5-
I may have accidentally deleted the picture of this day's outfit, as I can't find it anywhere on my computer. Perhaps I'll come across it in a few days on some deep, dark corner of my pictures folder. I was able to find the picture I took of my new necklace that I made for myself, though, so not all is lost. I used some sweet Amethyst nuggets that I've had kicking around my bead box forever and a day. It's simple, but I really like it.

March 6-
Love love love love love love love love love love love love love love this dress I traded for with ModernMode. Meg (the shop owner) is so sweet and I love doing trades with her. She gets awesome jewelry and I get awesome dresses. Happiness all around!

I'm really looking forward to wearing this one without the cardigan and tights. It'll still probably be another few weeks before the weather allows for that, though.

Just noticed I forgot to list the belt! It was $6.29 at Urban Outfitters.

March 7-
So I finally got around to going to Kohl's yesterday to get myself some new gray tights, since both my dark and light gray pairs had huge holes in them and were no longer wearable. Naturally I found two other pairs I liked, but they were a good price and I had a 15% off coupon so I let myself splurge and get 4 pairs total (2 gray, 1 ivory, and the lavender ones I'm wearing right now).

I also scoped out some sweet Vera Wang tank tops that were only $15 each, and after the additional discount I thought they were a pretty good price so I got two (the other one has a different print). I like this one a lot even though I think it looks like a petri dish.

And I never thought this would happen to me or that I would ever be willing to admit it on the internet, but I fell in love with a pair of Lauren Conrad shoes. I'm not really sure who Lauren Conrad is except that she was on some dumb TV show a while back (maybe she still is? I don't know...) so I automatically want to hate everything she designs. But there was no way I could make myself hate these shoes. So stinking cute. They were also $45, though, and no matter how much I wanted to get them I couldn't make myself spend that much on them. I found them on the Kohl's website and now have them bookmarked, so if they go on sale I will be ready. Check them out HERE and tell me if I'm crazy for loving them or not.

Outfit: What the HECK, Oregon?!?

Dear Oregon, it is almost March. Please stop this nonsense. Thanks. -Leanna

So this is what I woke up to this morning. That, and all my still-in-high-school buddies crying up a storm on facebook because school wasn't canceled. Waa waa. I still had to go to work, quit your blubbering.

My dear puppy Pippin loves the snow. Don't ask me why, because I would think it was make him cold and uncomfortable to run around and cover himself with snow balls (seriously, I had to blow dry him when he came in this morning because he was covered and it sets into his hair). To torture him, I asked him if he wanted to play ball with me, and promptly starting throwing snow balls for him to chase.

Poop little guy (ETA: I have been informed of the typo, but shall leave it for comedic purposes. Thanks, Allison!). He would run   around trying to find where it had gone, and if he did manage to find it it just fell apart when he tried to pick it up. Also, I'm amazed my lame microphone picked up my dopey dog-voice from all the way across the yard. I don't normally talk like that, I swear. :)

Anyways, this is not what I was planning on wearing at all today, but I hadn't planned on a freaking blizzard rolling through Oregon (not really a blizzard, but annoying nonetheless) so I had to make some last minute adjustments.
Question: Does it look weird to wear a necklace and cowl at the same time? I keep on going back and forth and it and I can't make up my mind. So what say you?

Outfits: Sunday & Monday

Sunday-
I got my Urban Outfitters order on Saturday! Hurrah! I picked up this dress for a mere $16, which if you know anything about UO you will know that is ridiculously cheap for them - it was originally $70! You can get one for yourself HERE if you want (I had a 20% off code, so that's why it's $20 on the site).

Monday (today)-
Get the top HERE (it's actually been marked down even more since I bought it, now it's only $10), or the cardigan HERE.

Hope you all had a lovely weekend! I spent mine working (on Saturday), and lazing around after church on Sunday. Oh, and eating lots of Cheetos, too. I love those things!

Outfit: Alterations

So, this is a vintage dress I got for Christmas from my mom. I have the coolest mom ever and she let me pick out a few vintage things on Etsy, and I spent a good 3 days searching all the possibilities and trying to narrow down my list to fit in the given budget. This dress, that I got from vintagecarliss, was actually giant on me when I first put it on. During the search process I was checking measurements to make sure that what I was getting wouldn't be too small, but it never really crossed my mind that anything would be too big.

I've been meaning for a while to fix it up a bit, and finally I got around to it last night. My mom wasn't home so it was a bit scary because I've never tailored anything before and would have liked to ask her the best way to do it, but I decided it would be god for me to try and figure it out on my own. All in all, I think I did a pretty smashing job.
I cut about half of the sleeve off, and then took out a considerable amount from underneath the arm and sewed it back up before hemming the sleeve. I would have taken pictures but my camera (well, it's actually my dad's but it's vacationing with me) was at work. The pics above are courtesy of the awful webcam on my laptop.

And of course I had to take some off the bottom, as it was hitting me several inches below my knees. It ended up being a little shorter than I'm comfortable with, but I did it that way because I realized that it would be easiest to hem it along the line where an extra piece of fabric was already attached around the bottom (where the print ran sideways instead of vertical).

The official "before and after":
I just noticed that in the picture above it looks like the sleeves are different lengths, but the one sleeve must have bunched a bit because it definitely does not look like that in real life, I promise!

Hope you all are having a great day!

Outfit: A Dress as a Skirt

Confession: I am covering up the top half of my favorite Calvin Klein dress with a thrifted sweater that cost me less than 2 bucks. Is that like a sin or something? I don't know, but I like the way it looks! I would love the way this looks even more with a necklace instead of a cowl and with no tights, but alas, the weather disagrees. Brr.

Outfit: New Boots --- Day 9: Future

Quick, guess what I'm wearing around my neck today! Oh, and if you guess anything other than a cowl you're wrong.
Truth be told I wasn't planning on wearing my cowl today, because I wear it like every day, but I just had to wear my new booties from Charlotte Russe today and they match the cowl almost exactly. Who am I to deny such a perfect match? I also was not planning on a Charlotte Russe party, and I didn't realize I was wearing 3 things from there until I was writing up the price description for this. Shame on me.

30 Day Challenge!

Day 9: What you hope your future will be like.
Didn't I already answer this question back on Day 2? I was planning on being profound today since I was so lame yesterday, but I just don't think I can muster up anything interesting for a question I've already answered. What am I supposed to say? I hope it's awesome?

So yeah, I'm going to be a party-pooper again today. And I will be again tomorrow, but there's not really anything I can do to help that. But it looks like the topics are going to get more interesting starting on Day 11, so hang in there!

And guess what! I remembered that it's Monday today, which means I'm going to get a Music Monday blog up on the right day! I actually wrote myself a note last night that said, "Leanna, tomorrow is Monday. Don't forget!" and stuck it inside of my laptop so when I got to work I'd see it and remember. Isn't my subconscious so sweet?

If I Were Rich: Shoe Edition

You may or may not have noticed, but I most often feature dresses for my Here Not There blogs, and there's actually a reason behind that beyond that dresses are prettiest to look at. When it comes to online shopping (and real-life shopping, for that matter), I am least tempted to buy dresses. I'm not sure why... I suppose that - even though I really like a lot of the dresses I look at - I just really don't hold that dear of a place in my heart for mass produced dresses. I'm more into unique dresses, such as the vintage ones that I buy on Etsy.

Shoes, however, I am very tempted to buy, and as a result I severely limit the amount of time I let myself look at them. Whenever I end up looking at shoes, I always buy some. Always. Last week I went to GoJane.com, and no less that 15 minutes after I started looking I had already bought myself another pair of brown boots (hey, they were cheap!). Yesterday I made the mistake of looking on Charlotte Russe and I fell madly in love with a pair of tan ankle booties. I haven't bought them yet, but I do have them bookmarked and the only reason I haven't bought them yet is because they're a bit more expensive than I feel comfortable with. We shall see...

Today, though, I let myself look without fear of spending; I only let myself look at the expensive shoes, because even I have my limits when it comes to shoe shopping. I once spent $60 on a pair of shoes and regretted it for days, even though I do really love the shoes. So for my pretend shopping trip today I only let myself look at shoes above $60.

My top picks from ModCloth (abbr. MC), Ruche, Lulu's, Urban Outfitters (abbr. UO), and Seychelles Footwear:

$60-$75:
$76-$100:

$101-$125:

$126-$150:

$151-$175:

$175+:
My very favorite pair of shoes out of the whole group, naturally, is the most expensive at $222. Curse my expensive tastes! They have been bookmarked on my laptop for quite some time now, and I make occasional visits to it just to make sure they are still there. I would never buy them at that price so I'm not really sure why I care, but the thought of them being gone, or them not having my size anymore, makes me want to boo-hoo. May it never be!

Here Not There: Footwear

Today I've got items from four different shops. They are:
Urban Outfitters ("Urban")
ModCloth ("MC")
GoJane
Ruche

Also, I was lazy about getting this blog up, so these prices were accurate as of last week. I can't guarantee that the prices are still the same. Sorry!
