Outfit: Scarf Surgery

I am officially declaring this jacket my favorite thrift store purchase to date. I wear it every day to and from work, even when I don't show it on my blog. And to think, I was this close to not buying it.

This morning I made myself a cowl. Well, I didn't really make it make it, but I created it from a scarf. Last time you saw this guy, it looked like this:
But I haven't worn it since then because it was really just too bulky to be worn as a scarf. So this morning I whipped out my scissors, cut off the fringe at the ends, and used some of the strands of yarn that I cut off to tie the ends of the scarf together. It's not beautiful, but as long as I keep that part at the back of my neck no one will ever have to know.
So my bulky scarf is now a lovely cowl. All together it took my about 10 minutes. Not bad!

Outfit: What the HECK, Oregon?!?

Dear Oregon, it is almost March. Please stop this nonsense. Thanks. -Leanna

So this is what I woke up to this morning. That, and all my still-in-high-school buddies crying up a storm on facebook because school wasn't canceled. Waa waa. I still had to go to work, quit your blubbering.

My dear puppy Pippin loves the snow. Don't ask me why, because I would think it was make him cold and uncomfortable to run around and cover himself with snow balls (seriously, I had to blow dry him when he came in this morning because he was covered and it sets into his hair). To torture him, I asked him if he wanted to play ball with me, and promptly starting throwing snow balls for him to chase.

Poop little guy (ETA: I have been informed of the typo, but shall leave it for comedic purposes. Thanks, Allison!). He would run   around trying to find where it had gone, and if he did manage to find it it just fell apart when he tried to pick it up. Also, I'm amazed my lame microphone picked up my dopey dog-voice from all the way across the yard. I don't normally talk like that, I swear. :)

Anyways, this is not what I was planning on wearing at all today, but I hadn't planned on a freaking blizzard rolling through Oregon (not really a blizzard, but annoying nonetheless) so I had to make some last minute adjustments.
Question: Does it look weird to wear a necklace and cowl at the same time? I keep on going back and forth and it and I can't make up my mind. So what say you?

Outfit: Leanna Cartoonified

Well, this morning I left my camera at home by accident, so no pictures for you. Instead, you get to admire this stunning piece of artwork that I drew using my touch-screen laptop. That's right folks, I drew this using my pointer finger. Fear me.

Also, just wanted to say thanks to Ashley at Piloting Life for giving me the "Stylish Blogger" award. As part of getting that, I'm supposed to write 7 things about myself. Those of you who have been around since the beginning of the 30 Day Challenge know that I had to write 30 things about myself on Day 6, so I won't be repetitive. You can read any seven facts you like by clicking HERE.
I'm also supposed to tag 7 other people to  get the award. Hurrah!
1) Meg at The Modern Mode. Fashion and music combined. What more could you want?
2) Kira at Rain or Shine. She interned at Betsey Johnson, and once got to sit down and make a shopping list of make-up with Betsey Johnson herself. If that's not stylish I don't know what is.
3) Savannah at Sweet and Savvy. I don't know how it is possible that this girl only has 4 followers. Her clothes are soooo cute. Excuse the extra o's.
4) Mckenzie at March Rielo. I'm fairly certain she has already got this award, but if not I'm giving it to her now.
5) Jennifer at The Blair Affairs. I'm pretty sure she must have gotten this already as well, but whatever. She deserves it!
6) Amanda at Farmgirl Writes. She likes to blog about the red carpet styles, and we always find someone to disagree on. :) It's kind of fun, though!
7) Emma at Behind the Leopard Glasses. She collects Toms! That reeks of stylish-ness.

Outfit: Free Coffee!

Well, this is what I'm wearing today. Blah blah blah, boring I know.

The exciting thing today is that I got free coffee! Well, not really free, but I finally filled up my punch card from the coffee shop next door. So of course, I treated myself to the big size (20oz.) instead of my usual medium (16oz.).
Also, I got mini donuts! And yes, they have chocolate frosting and Oreo crumbles on top. Yum.
Between the time I started this blog and now, my donuts disappeared. Please let me know if you see them around anywhere.
Oh, well, I might have eaten them actually, so never mind.

Outfit: Red --- Day 27: Problematic

Red is one color that I've never really been able to get that excited about. I love me some green, blue, yellow, and pretty much any other color, but when it comes to my wardrobe I tend to avoid red at all costs. I think that's because in most cases, red just isn't a good color for me. With my coloring, anything but the exact right shade of red makes me looks gross.

Thankfully, this cowl is that perfect exact shade of red. It's a bit of a risk ordering things online since colors can look different on different monitors, but my gamble paid off big time because I love it! And my red tights aren't really the best shade, but it's not a big deal because they aren't right next to any visible skin.

See the full list of 30 Day Challenge topics HERE.
Day 27: A problem that you have had.
Ugh, man these topics are really starting to annoy me. Only 3 more days.... only 3 more days... only 3 more days...
One time I had a hang nail. That was a problem, but I clipped it off and it wasn't a problem anymore.
Then another time I locked myself out of the house while I was barefoot and had to trudge through my backyard (while it was raining) so I could break in through the laundry room window, which is a LOT higher off the ground that I thought at first.
And then another time I was in Vietnam and one of my eyelids swelled up so bad I couldn't even see out of that eye for a while until the swelling started to go down. That happened to be the day I was flying home, and everyone in the airport looked at me weird and some little Chinese girl in the Hong Kong airport just stood and stared at me while I washed my hands in the bathroom. I still don't know why it happened.
The end.

Outfit: And then came the shoes...

Well I was on my way to another spectacularly inexpensive outfit, but that I couldn't resist myself and went with my favorite Seychelles pumps. Sue me.

This cowl is a late Christmas present from my sister that I got in the mail yesterday. She was going to try and make wristlets, but then I fell in love with cowls so I told her she could make me one of those instead. And I wanted a mustard one, and mustard is exactly what I got. Isn't the color fabulous?
And I realized this morning that I love turquoise and mustard together. I think I'm going to try and make excuses to wear those colors together all the time now. The ring is one that I saw my mom wearing yesterday and I immediately stole it from her (if my mom asks any of you if you know what happened to it, it wasn't me. Don't blow my cover.)

Outfit: Thrifty

Pretty cheap outfit today, no? Buying stuff at thrift stores and making your own jewelry tends to have that effect. It would have been especially cheap if I had left my cowl at home, but it's super cold today so there was no way I was going commando on my neck. And seriously, this cowl is freakishly soft and cozy, so I don't regret one single dollar I spent on it. Thanks, Trisha!

Outfit: Basic Math --- Day 18: Beliefs

So after I got dressed this morning, I realized that I'm wearing the exact colors as I did yesterday, only reversed. Also, I'm wearing a very similar top and skirt combo as I did about a week ago. So I came to the conclusion that what I'm wearing today is a combination of the two, as illustrated mathematically below.
Cool. am I right?

Anyways, 30 Day Challenge! Are you guys getting bored of this yet? I kind of am, but if I quit now then I'd be... well, I'd be a quitter! And no one likes a quitter, so I shall endure.
As usual, click HERE to see the full list of topics.

Day 18: Your Beliefs
Whaaaaaaat? That prompt is way too big. Because I believe a lot of things. For example, I believe in gravity, that paper comes from trees, that the inside of an egg can either be eaten or turned into a baby chicken, that 2+2=4, that being tall is fun, and that this question is silly.
I also believe that coffee is yummy, clothes are fabulous, my puppy is cute, that I'm getting sick of Christian radio (that's what plays at work), that pennies are dumb, that polar bears are pretty but I wouldn't want to hug one, that the burger shop that I work next too smells soooo good, that the sky is blue, and that even though it's sunny outside it's still cold.
The end.

Outfit: It's Not Easy Wearing Green --- Day 17: Highs and Lows

So I messed around with my camera a wee bit, so now my pics aren't as grainy, but the lighting is also a bit. funky. You give some and you take some, right?

Anywho, these are my new green pants! The green is a great shade for me... kinda an army/sage green. One has to be careful when wearing colored pants, though. Wearing colored pants with a colorful or over-designed top  can make you like like an emo/hipster hybrid, and no one wants that. A solid, neutral colored top is the way to go.

Fun fact: My bracelets are made out of old airplane parts. Cool, right?

Onto the 30 Day Challenge! Click HERE for the whole list of prompts.
Day 17: Your highs and lows of this past year (2010).
Lows:
-Not being able to get a job over the holidays. I had two interviews but no luck.
-Spending too much money on clothes.
-Realizing that the school I wanted to go to was way more money than I could afford.
-My dad getting a job that requires him to travel a bunch. I mean, I'm glad he has a job, but it's not much fun when he's gone for 3 weeks at a time.
-At the beginning of the year I thought that staying home a year and working before going to college was a real low. Now I'm so happy that I did, but back then I was kind of grumpy about it.

Highs:
-Graduating from high school and getting to give a speech at graduation.
-Going to France for two weeks in the summer.
-Getting a full time job! (well, technically that happened early in January... oh well)
-Discovering that thrift stores are really cool and that there are not scary monsters living in them.
-Getting to continue to meet with Charlene, a wonderful lady from my church that has been my mentor for the past 2 years. We meet every other week to do a bible study and memorize passages from the Bible together.
-Going to State in tennis with one of my best friends.
-Discovering some really awesome fashion bloggers that inspired me to have more fun with clothes (and try thrift stores!)
-Having 3 bedrooms all to myself!
-Learning how to sew.
-Getting to teach Sunday School at church. I teach 4th and 5th grade girls and it is so awesome to get to be involved in teaching them about God.

That's all I can think of right now. I'm sure there are lots more of both, but it's hard to remember (oh gosh.... I must be getting old.)

Outfit: Welcome to 2011

I was looking through my outfit posts and I realized these shoes haven't been worn yet in 2011. Welcome to the new year, shoes! (Speaking of shoes, have you checked out my new blog yet?)

Anyways, I got a new cowl! Well, I got two actually, but it would look weird to wear two at the same time. I got this one from strawberrycountry on Etsy.

I'm chopping up my outfit post and 30 Challenge post today because I think my challenge post is going to be looooonnngggg today. Hurray!

Outfit: A Steal and a Cowl

I bought this cowl from roundabout1 on Etsy. I love it so much... super soft and I adore the color. I've been on an oatmeal kick lately (the color, not the food), so this is perfect for me!

And would you believe I got a brand new pair of boots for only $11.67? I briefly considered writing an apology note to GoJane to apologize for practically stealing boots from them. $11.67! People spend more than that on toothpicks!
