Outfits: Cheapy Cheapy

I'm switching to every other day outfit posts, just FYI. I felt bad for junking up everyone's blog rolls. :)

March 1st-

Uhm, super cheap outfit, am I right? When was the last time you saw an 8 piece ensemble for only $20.25? Granted, the dress didn't cost me anything because my mom made it for me, and the jewelry didn't cost me either (well, other than supply costs) because I made it myself, but STILL.

March 2nd-  

I love this skirt I found at St. Vincent's on my last trip there (which was oh so long ago... the first thing I'm going to do when I stop working 6 days a week is dedicate an entire day to thrift shopping). It's kind of like a faux-leather. It is perhaps a little longer than I'd like, but I can deal with it since it's not the type of material that your just hem up in 5 minutes.

 Well, this morning I left my camera at home by accident, so no pictures for you. Instead, you get to admire this stunning piece of artwork that I drew using my touch-screen laptop. That's right folks, I drew this using my pointer finger. Fear me.

Also, just wanted to say thanks to Ashley at Piloting Life for giving me the "Stylish Blogger" award. As part of getting that, I'm supposed to write 7 things about myself. Those of you who have been around since the beginning of the 30 Day Challenge know that I had to write 30 things about myself on Day 6, so I won't be repetitive. I'm also supposed to tag 7 other people to  get the award. Hurrah!

1) Meg at The Modern Mode. Fashion and music combined. What more could you want?

2) Kira at Rain or Shine. She interned at Betsey Johnson, and once got to sit down and make a shopping list of make-up with Betsey Johnson herself. If that's not stylish I don't know what is.

3) Savannah at Sweet and Savvy. I don't know how it is possible that this girl only has 4 followers. Her clothes are soooo cute. Excuse the extra o's.

4) Mckenzie at March Rielo. I'm fairly certain she has already got this award, but if not I'm giving it to her now.

5) Jennifer at The Blair Affairs. I'm pretty sure she must have gotten this already as well, but whatever. She deserves it!

6) Amanda at Farmgirl Writes. She likes to blog about the red carpet styles, and we always find someone to disagree on. :) It's kind of fun, though!

7) Emma at Behind the Leopard Glasses. She collects Toms! That reeks of stylish-ness.

Outfit: Thrifty

Pretty cheap outfit today, no? Buying stuff at thrift stores and making your own jewelry tends to have that effect. It would have been especially cheap if I had left my cowl at home, but it's super cold today so there was no way I was going commando on my neck. And seriously, this cowl is freakishly soft and cozy, so I don't regret one single dollar I spent on it. Thanks, Trisha!

Outfit: It's Not Easy Wearing Green --- Day 17: Highs and Lows

So I messed around with my camera a wee bit, so now my pics aren't as grainy, but the lighting is also a bit. funky. You give some and you take some, right?

Anywho, these are my new green pants! The green is a great shade for me... kinda an army/sage green. One has to be careful when wearing colored pants, though. Wearing colored pants with a colorful or over-designed top  can make you like like an emo/hipster hybrid, and no one wants that. A solid, neutral colored top is the way to go.

Fun fact: My bracelets are made out of old airplane parts. Cool, right?

Day 17: Your highs and lows of this past year (2010).
Lows:
-Not being able to get a job over the holidays. I had two interviews but no luck.
-Spending too much money on clothes.
-Realizing that the school I wanted to go to was way more money than I could afford.
-My dad getting a job that requires him to travel a bunch. I mean, I'm glad he has a job, but it's not much fun when he's gone for 3 weeks at a time.
-At the beginning of the year I thought that staying home a year and working before going to college was a real low. Now I'm so happy that I did, but back then I was kind of grumpy about it.

Highs:
-Graduating from high school and getting to give a speech at graduation.
-Going to France for two weeks in the summer.
-Getting a full time job! (well, technically that happened early in January... oh well)
-Discovering that thrift stores are really cool and that there are not scary monsters living in them.
-Getting to continue to meet with Charlene, a wonderful lady from my church that has been my mentor for the past 2 years. We meet every other week to do a bible study and memorize passages from the Bible together.
-Going to State in tennis with one of my best friends.
-Discovering some really awesome fashion bloggers that inspired me to have more fun with clothes (and try thrift stores!)
-Having 3 bedrooms all to myself!
-Learning how to sew.
-Getting to teach Sunday School at church. I teach 4th and 5th grade girls and it is so awesome to get to be involved in teaching them about God.

That's all I can think of right now. I'm sure there are lots more of both, but it's hard to remember (oh gosh.... I must be getting old.)

Outfit: New Boots --- Day 9: Future

Quick, guess what I'm wearing around my neck today! Oh, and if you guess anything other than a cowl you're wrong.
Truth be told I wasn't planning on wearing my cowl today, because I wear it like every day, but I just had to wear my new booties from Charlotte Russe today and they match the cowl almost exactly. Who am I to deny such a perfect match? I also was not planning on a Charlotte Russe party, and I didn't realize I was wearing 3 things from there until I was writing up the price description for this. Shame on me.

Day 9: What you hope your future will be like.
Didn't I already answer this question back on Day 2? I was planning on being profound today since I was so lame yesterday, but I just don't think I can muster up anything interesting for a question I've already answered. What am I supposed to say? I hope it's awesome?

So yeah, I'm going to be a party-pooper again today. And I will be again tomorrow, but there's not really anything I can do to help that. But it looks like the topics are going to get more interesting starting on Day 11, so hang in there!


And guess what! I remembered that it's Monday today, which means I'm going to get a Music Monday blog up on the right day! I actually wrote myself a note last night that said, "Leanna, tomorrow is Monday. Don't forget!" and stuck it inside of my laptop so when I got to work I'd see it and remember. Isn't my subconscious so sweet?

Outfit: Springy --- Day 7: Zodiac Sign

It's sunny today! Sunny! I can't even believe it.
Being sunny does not mean it's warm, though, so I am wearing exactly the same thing that I would have worn if it were raining. Lame, I know.

Day 7: Your zodiac sign and if it matches your personality
Well, I was a Taurus, but with the new signs or whatever I'm now an Aries.
That said, I couldn't care less what I am. I don't pay any attention to them or read horoscopes or any other stuff related to zodiacs. I don't even know what the personality of a Taurus (or an Aries) is supposed to be so I can't tell you if it matches. But I'm going to go out on a limb here and say it probably doesn't, and if it does it's nothing more than a coincidence. The end.

Outfit: Cowl, Again --- Day 5: Suicide

Are you guys totally sick of seeing this cowl yet? I sure hope not, because I adore it and plan on wearing it every day for the rest of my life. OK, so not every day, but quite often until it decides to get warm again (and by "it" I mean Oregon weather. So yeah, I'm going to be wearing this cowl until July). Also, I forgot to put that I got the booties at Kohl's, but you all already knew that, didn't you? Of course you did.

Day 5: A time I thought about ending my own life
I have never seriously considered suicide. Never ever. Sure, I've had my fair share of drama queen "Oh I just want to die!" moments, but nothing beyond that.

Outfit: Poofy --- Day 3: Drugs/Alcohol

Today I let myself get all dressed up and wear a skirt and heels to make up for dressing like a hobo yesterday. I also set 5 different alarms on my cell phone this morning to avoid another over-sleeping episode.

I caught the back of my tights on something when I wore them last time, so a small hole had started. Since they only cost me $2.54 I wasn't too broken up about it, and I decided I'd give them one last hurrah before condemning them to the trash can. Unfortunately, I ended up getting my pinky caught in said hole while putting them on, making the little hole quite a big hole. Somewhere in the world, a 3rd grade boy turned to his friend and said, "Smooth move, Ex-Lax." You know it's true. It was too late to pick a different pair, though, so I just wore them anyways. Oh well.

And you can't see them in the pics, but these are the earrings I'm wearing:
I made them a few weeks ago and haven't worn them yet, but I couldn't resist wearing them today since they match the triangles on my skirt. Fun!

Day 3: My Views on Drugs and Alcohol
Oh gosh. People usually lump these two together in the same boat, but they really aren't in the same boat at all. I don't know anything about medical marijuana so I'm in no position to make any statements about that, but other than that drugs are not okay in any situation, period.

Alcohol, on the other hand, is fine. It's what you do with the alcohol that makes it not fine. Enjoying a glass on wine with dinner? No problem. Drinking a whole bottle because you're sad? Problem. The Bible never says that drinking is a sin (in fact, in a few places it is recommended), it says that getting drunk is a sin. Big difference.

Outfit: A Steal and a Cowl

I bought this cowl from roundabout1 on Etsy. I love it so much... super soft and I adore the color. I've been on an oatmeal kick lately (the color, not the food), so this is perfect for me!

And would you believe I got a brand new pair of boots for only $11.67? I briefly considered writing an apology note to GoJane to apologize for practically stealing boots from them. $11.67! People spend more than that on toothpicks!
