Yes, Barbie owns a paintball gun.

The After: (Hello Holes in the Wall)

If you didn't see the Before post yet, click HERE. Otherwise the following pics won't look all that spectacular.

The After:

Isn't is fabulous? I love love love it. Every time I walk by my room I have to stick my head in just to stare at it for a while.

I ended up using 11 of the impressionist painting prints (out of the 22 I had), 8 images that I printed out for free on Vintage Printable, and two small mirrors.

I already had the large frame that I put the two Renoir paintings in. The two big square frames (that house Starry Night and The Dancing Class) came from St. Vincent's, as did the two mirrors and two other smaller frames. The rest of the frames came from the Dollar Tree. A pretty cheap project, considering that to buy framed prints like these individually would probably cost $10+ at retail price.
You may be thinking to yourself, "Gee, I wonder how she got all those pictures spaced so nicely." The truth is that it wasn't nearly as hard as I thought it would be. It is, however, more time consuming that I thought it would be. My sister Lindsey has apparently done a similar picture wall in her apartment at college, so she shared her secrets with me on how to get everything looking uniform and straight. It took a while to get everything done, but it was well worth it to be sure that it was going to all fit and be spaced correctly before I started putting holes in my wall.

What it looked like before I started nailing:
Yes, that is newspaper on my wall. They were my guides to make sure everything was placed right and also so I would know where I needed to put my nails.

All in all, it was a very fun and inexpensive project. I kind of want to do this to every wall in my house now. Someone stop me quick!

Vintage Printable

I was doing some blog hopping the other day and came across Vintage Printable, a 100% free source for vintage images, many of which are available in large sizes suitable for printing out. I love old prints and pictures, so I was thrilled to have a whole collection of them all in one place for me to scoop up at will. Some of my favorites (of the dozens that I've saved so far):
I don't know what I'm going to do with all of my images, but I'll surely think of something fabulous sooner or later. Either that or they'll just clutter up my hard drive for a few months.

The one thing I really am not in love with in regards to this site is the site itself. Horrible navigation, and the flash-gizmo that they use to display their images is enough to make even the soundest of tummies feel queasy. Lucky for everyone, there is a solution to the problem.

Once you click on a category at the top, you should see a page that looks like this. The outlined red box is where the flash player they use is. You will notice quickly that anytime you move your mouse over this flash player, the images inside of it will start swirling around at light speed. Apparently this is supposed to be useful. I just think it's dumb.
They tried their darnedest to hide it, but there is a tiny little link below the flash player that you can click on to disable to it.
The resulting gallery isn't ideal, as you have to open each image individually to view it, but it beats getting motion sickness and upchucking all over your computer.
Click HERE to go to their site.
Have fun browsing! If you think of any fun projects to do with these images, let me know! :)

Papaya Art

I feel that it would be mean of me not to tell you guys about my favorite art site. Papaya Art was introduced to me by my sister Lindsey, (hmm, I don't know if she wants to be associated with me. Oh well, she is now!) who has a good taste in art and decor and such. She gave me my first Papaya piece (more on that later) and showed me their website.

I could look at this kind of art all day long. It's an odd mixture of vintage and whimsy, with lots of mixed elements to create the final piece. Papaya Art sells all kinds of things on their website... greeting cards, wall hangings, magnets, journals, calendars, stickers, and even water bottles and tote bags. Check out their website HERE.

Here are some of my favorites:

My own Papaya collection consists of 3 art panels and a calendar. I have my panels hanging above my desk, where I'm sitting right now to write this. Just imagine me sitting criss-cross-applesauce on the chair (though I don't know why I'm sitting like this... it's not very comfortable).
The first panel on the left was a gift from Lindsey and was my first one. In the top left corner it says "Dwell in Possibility -Emily Dickinson". The center one is brand new and just came a few days ago. I got it from Papaya's sale section for half off... so it was only $8. Yay for steals! Then the one on the right was one I bought with a giftcard Lindsey got me for my birthday this year. I don't know why, but I love it. It says "Ya Freak" just below the wacko lady.
Along with the center panel, I bought myself a calendar. The one I bought is called the 12 Muses calendar and has a different lady for every month. I love is so much I already put it up. So maybe it's still December where you all live, but in my room it's January. Hello from the future.
If you see something on their site you want, order it today! They are having free shipping and it ends tomorrow... so hurry!

Style Update

Your style is a very personal and expressive form of art. Your style should be comprised of what you want others to see, what you want to see yourself, what makes you feel amazing and what excites you every day, especially when you get dressed. So, how do you achieve such an ideal style? That's easy! Take a thorough, OBJECTIVE look at yourself. Use the following questions as a starting point. Think of it as a very personal interview! Be honest with yourself and embrace the results.

List three (3) or more words that describe your personality.

List three (3) or more words that describe you, physically.

How do you think people currently view you, physically?

How do you think people view you based on your emotions and personality?

How long have you had your current wardrobe?

Do you have a defined style?

How often do you clean out your closet and weed out old clothes?

Do you own clothes that you don’t really like or don’t ever wear?

What is your least favorite piece from your wardrobe? Why do you still own it?

Who are your fashion icons? Why?

Are there any items of clothing that you want to try to wear but haven’t tried yet? If so, what are these items? Why haven’t you tried to wear them yet?

Have you recently had a life change (gaining/losing weight, graduation, new job, marriage, kids, divorce, career change, self-exploration)?

Are you bored with your style, wardrobe or closet?

Do you have a closet full of clothes but suffer from "I-don't-have-anything-to-wear-itis?"

Your style should reflect who you are, what you want to see on yourself and what you want other people to see. After thinking about the above questions, do you have a better sense of your real style? How different is your real style from the style you currently own in your closet? Do you currently have a defined style or a mix of everything?

When should you update your style? Well, if you are asking this question, then the answer is "now!" Confidence is the key when choosing and maintaining your style and wardrobe. If you aren't 100% happy with each and every piece you own, then it is time for a change. Maybe the change entails weeding out some older clothes and adding some new items... Maybe the change involves looking at yourself and your closet differently... Whatever the change, you're in for a treat! Wouldn't you feel better about your style, yourself and your life if you were more confident and projected that attitude in your style? I thought so.

What should you do if you don't have time to update your style or don't know where to start? That's simple. Contact me today for a free estimate. I will work to fit your schedule and your budget. I can teach you how to organize your closet, how to define your style and how to be confident with your style and yourself. I offer many consultation options from a Closet-Cleanout to Personal Shopping Assistance to a Complete Style Enhancement. I will work to fit your style needs, whatever they may be! Your style should represent who you are NOW. Focus on the present you because you are fabulous now!
