Outfit: Cozy

This outfit is mighty cozy. It is cozy right now as I'm wearing it, and it was also cozy 2 days ago when I took this picture. Confused? I was planning on walking to Target the other day so I got dressed and did my make up and then it decided to snow. They were very small flakes and weren't sticking at all, but it was enough to make me realize I had two options:
A) Walk to the store and risk it starting to snow hardcore/rain. Walk home in the miserable weather.
B) Stay home, and it will surely not snow or rain and I will feel like a dummy.

As Option B did not involve me getting soaking wet, I opted to stay home (and naturally, it stopped snowing and never rained). And as not to waste a perfectly good outfit, I immediately changed out of it so I could rewear it to work today. Cheating? I think yes.

And yes, I am wearing socks over my pants. It's pretty fabulous, if I do say so.

Outfit: Cheater

I have a confession: I wore this outfit twice. Eeps!

Now before you start to get disgusted with me for being to high-and-mighty to wear something twice, I feel I should tell you that I do wear things twice. In fact I wear some items in my closet many, many times, some of them so often that you'd get sick of them if I posted an outfit every day. I do not, however, ever wear the exact same outfit twice. I always try to change something, whether that is mixing up the top or bottom with another piece, accessorizing differently, wearing a different tights/shoes combo, any thing to make it look different.

But I guess I was feeling lazy the other day, though, because I found myself reaching for the exact same outfit that I had worn in the previous week. Perhaps my subconscious is just so in love with this outfit that I couldn't help it? Regardless, I did feel guilty enough about the cheat that I whipped up my hair and added a pin. That sorta counts, right?

I'll be gone for the next few days (only until Thursday, if everything goes according to plan). Outfit: Red Pants

I was so stinking scared to leave my house wearing red pants. I thought for sure someone was going to throw something at me. Thankfully, no such occurrences took place, so perhaps I will be brave enough to wear them out in public again some time... right after I get done posting a picture of them for the whole internet to see. My logic is not so great sometimes.

Outfit: The Casual Thrifter

This sweater is American Eagle, which means the rich soul that bought it the first time around probably shelled out a good $30-$40 for it. It is also cut rather strangely, which leads me to believe that the rich soul that bought it was, in fact, a man. I am not above cross-dressing, however, and I shall wear this sweater proudly. Besides, girl argyle is always pink and purple. Lame.

This is what I wore on Thanksgiving. I'm not particularly fond of Thanksgiving. Like most holidays, it's gone the way of the world and is now more about food and shopping than it is giving thanks. So I guess I shouldn't say I'm not fond of Thanksgiving, I should say I'm not fond of what the world has done to it, reducing it merely to "Turkey Day" or "Black Friday Eve".

Two things I am quite fond of, though, are this necklace and this skirt. Forever21 is the only place I buy jewelry from, as a general rule, because jewelry everywhere else is overpriced and I could make it for myself for cheaper. And this skirt is probably my favorite Thrift Store find yet... it's a really nice wool blend in a great dark green shade. Sure to get lots of wear.

As I said in my previous post, let me know if this blog layout looks wonky on your screen. I'm messing around with new set ups and whatnot and I know sometimes things look different on different monitors.

Outfit: Vintage Part 3

This is my 3rd vintage dress that I've debuted here on my blog, and I must say I think this one is my favorite, at least for casual wear. I wore it to church last Sunday and got so many compliments... from old people and young people. A cross-generational dress! Huzzah!

Sooo cute, am I right? I couldn't bear to cover it up with any necklaces or whatnot, so I went relatively accessory-less (I was wearing earrings but you can't see them in the pic).

I got so excited when I saw these shoes at Kohl's because I have been on the hunt for a pair like them for a while now. There are several different pairs online that I've been lusting after, but I have resisted them for a while because of their price tags. This pair was a cool $18, though, and I love how it has 3 straps instead of the usual 1.

Outfit: Fall Lighting is Awful

So I know the lighting on this pic is pretty much sucky, so I apologize for that. But taking pictures in the fall in Oregon is extremely unforgiving, so unfortunately we're just going to have to get used to it. At least I don't live in Alaska like my crazy sister because then I'd never be able to take any pictures.

A few things about this outfit:
1) My quest for a pair of skinny-jeans-that-aren't-skin-tight ended at Alloy when I discovered they have inseams up to 37 inches. Which, when you're 6 feet tall, is kinda a big deal. And not only that, but they were having a buy one get one 50% off sale, so I got this pair and a similar pair that's black. They aren't even close to Buckle jeans in the quality department, but they'll do the job for a year or two until I inevitably change my mind about skinny jeans and throw them away. Such is the cycle of clothing in Leannaland. And for $22, that's a cycle I can afford.

2) LOVE this brooch. It was part of the trade I did with Miss Hailey of Brydferth. I never saw myself as a brooch person until I got my paws on this little cutie, and now I'm constantly trying to wear it with every outfit.

Here Not There: Introducing Lulu's

This is my second vintage dress and it came from ModernMode. The owner of the shop (Meg) is so sweet and has even agreed to do a trade with me for some other dresses in her shop that I liked (which, by the way, should be here any second... where are you Mr. Mailman?).

I've had these boots for a couple of years and have no recollection whatsoever of where I got them or how much they cost. But I used to be a real cheapskate when it came to shoes, so I'm sure they weren't more than $20 or so.

I wore my brand new (to me) vintage dress to church yesterday & got more compliments on it than I have on any other outfit I've ever worn. Huzzah! And for only $24? That's my kind of dress. ModCloth has some amazingly gorgeous vintage-inspired dresses, but at $40+ (usually much more than $40), that's not the sort of dress I can afford to buy too often, or ever.

Closet Cleaning

Today I took on the brave task of going through my clothes and getting rid of the ones I don't wear anymore. Most people have no problem chucking out their old clothes, but I actually get somewhat attached to mine and don't like to get rid of them, even it it's an item I haven't worn in years.

What my room looks like mid-operation:

I ended up letting go of 31 items, mostly shirts but a few dresses and skirts as well.
Among the cast-offs:
-The vest/jacket that I wore to Vietnam in '08
-The button up shirt I wore the last day of my Freshman year of high school (and haven't worn once since then)
-3 dresses that I bought and never wore
-The Relient K, my one time favorite band, t-shirt I bought a few years ago at Creation Fest.
-My first pencil skirt

Call me a dork, but I actually got really sad putting some of these into bags. *sniff*
