I know I'm a day late, but I'd rather be late than not share my latest gorgeous Papaya Art calendar page. So welcome to...

If you've been following my blog longer than a month this is old news to you, but my Papaya Art calendar is definitely on my favorite purchases I've made in a long while. I still can't believe it was only $14. And once the year is over, I can cut out all of the pictures and use the prints for whatever else I want because it's printed on really nice, thick cardstock-type paper, not the flimsy gloss stuff. The 2011 calendars are now gone from the Papaya site, but they've added the 2012 ones (we're already 1/3 through 2011... can you believe it?), so you can check them out HERE and start planning ahead for which one you want.

Also, my best friend Janell and I went out for lunch yesterday since she was home from college for the weekend and she gave me my birthday present. I wouldn't normally post about it, but since it's pretty darn similar to Papaya Art I though it would fit well here.

Gorgeous, am I right? She got it at this awesome art site she found called Society6. There are lots of different styles there, but many of them kind of have a Papaya Art feel to them, especially this one. It's a really nice size, too.

Not sure where I'm going to put it yet. Between my picture wall above my bed and my Papaya panels above my desk, and now this, my room is kind of turning into an art gallery. I'm totally OK with that, though.

Welcome to...

Today, as you all have most likely realized, is April. If you've been following my blog for longer than a month, you know I get excited about new months because every time a new month rolls around, I get to flip to a new picture on my Papaya Art calendar (what, you haven't heard of Papaya Art? Click HERE to read my post on it).

This month's muse is the "Belong to Yourself" lady. I can't say I agree with the sentiment, but oh well, it's pretty to look at!

Anyways, back to April. I think April should be a pretty grand month. The top 2 reasons I'm excited for it:

Reason #1
On April 6th, I will enjoy my first full day off of work (excluding Sunday) since the beginning of January. Not only will it be my first day off of work, but it will be my first day of sleeping in, because on Sundays I get up even earlier than usual to go to church.
Reason #2
Seattle trip! I'm heading up to see a fashion show at the apparel design school I'm hoping to attend next year. I'm also excited for this trip because I'm going to stay with my buddy Joni and she is going to take me to her favorite shoe store, John Fluevog! Please pray I won't spend too much money! Also pray that Joni doesn't turn out to be a 60 year old creeper man. That would be sad.

Yay! Today is March, which means it's almost April, which means it's almost May, which means it's almost my birthday!

OK, so that's a lame reason for being excited about March. I'm not really that excited about my birthday, I promise. The real reason I'm excited that it's March is because I get to have a new Papaya Art lady on my calendar. What's that? You don't know what Papaya Art is? You poor soul. It's February! And you all know what that means...

 A new page on my Papaya Art calendar! :)

February's 'muse' (it's called the 12 Muses calendar) is a fairy lady with the words "Stand in your truth" on both sides. Pretty pretty! I'm so excited to get to look at this for a whole month!

Papaya Art

I feel that it would be mean of me not to tell you guys about my favorite art site. Papaya Art was introduced to me by my sister Lindsey, (hmm, I don't know if she wants to be associated with me. Oh well, she is now!) who has a good taste in art and decor and such. She gave me my first Papaya piece (more on that later) and showed me their website.

I could look at this kind of art all day long. It's an odd mixture of vintage and whimsy, with lots of mixed elements to create the final piece. Papaya Art sells all kinds of things on their website... greeting cards, wall hangings, magnets, journals, calendars, stickers, and even water bottles and tote bags. Check out their website HERE.

My own Papaya collection consists of 3 art panels and a calendar. I have my panels hanging above my desk, where I'm sitting right now to write this. Just imagine me sitting criss-cross-applesauce on the chair (though I don't know why I'm sitting like this... it's not very comfortable).
The first panel on the left was a gift from Lindsey and was my first one. In the top left corner it says "Dwell in Possibility -Emily Dickinson". The center one is brand new and just came a few days ago. I got it from Papaya's sale section for half off... so it was only $8. Yay for steals! Then the one on the right was one I bought with a giftcard Lindsey got me for my birthday this year. I don't know why, but I love it. It says "Ya Freak" just below the wacko lady.
Along with the center panel, I bought myself a calendar. The one I bought is called the 12 Muses calendar and has a different lady for every month. I love is so much I already put it up. So maybe it's still December where you all live, but in my room it's January. Hello from the future.
