It talks about CW's new series the Vampire Diaries and the new phenom series Twilight. About the similarities, the revival of the Vampire popularity wave, and of their success.
Following my reading of the series (which I have VERY MIXED reviews about) and my viewing of the new television show, all I have to say is this:
If I were L. J. Smith, the author of the Vampire Diaries, I would want to stake that bitch Stephenie Meyer.
I have read many of Meyer's interviews where she states that the premise for Twilight came to her in a dream; a dream of the scene in the woods between Bella and Edward, and Ta-Da/Presto-ChangeO the Twilight series was born. Well eff that. In the words of Lothos, played by the talented Rutger Hauer in the 1992 movie Buffy the Vampire Slayer, "Puh-lease!"There are WAY too many similarities between these two series. I understand that there may be many similarities between books in the science fiction genre, but seriously? these two series can easily be splayed out side-by-side so that one could play the matching game with the plot lines, character studies, etc!
You be the judge. You don't even have to read either series. Go to amazon or the websites for the respected authors (L. J. Smith // Stephenie Meyer)... look at the novel summaries. Copy Catters are obvious in plain text.
Just because I am in Vamp mode and will forever heart Buffy; enjoy Pee-Wee Herman's death scene in BtVS (1992):
Funny when I was 5 and still funny 17 years later!
