COOTD LAUGHTER IS THE BEST MEDICINE

I've been sick ALL DAMN WEEK.
Apparently so have many other bloggers.
Very weird coincidence.
I think there's an internet conspiracy afoot.
But then again, that's probably just the medicine talking.

Don't ask...
I'm sick remember!
 Blazer: Target
Top: Marshalls
Jeans: Silver Sienna Skinnies
Boots: Aldo
 GPOYW from Wednesday duh... ;)

 My favorite photographer, the Sister-Cousin,
was trying to interrupt my self-portrait
Then I turned the tables and tried to include her...
She wasn't in the picture mood...
And ended up on the floor :)

Bahahah!
I love her!

If you're one of the many who ended up sick this week, I hope you're on the road to feeling better.
I'm hoping to have this whole sickness kicked by this weekend, but each day I'm sick something else gets tacked onto my list of ailments.
I feel like a walking germ factory.
Maybe I'm getting payback from my body for only getting 4-5 hours of sleep a night for the past 3 months...
my body hates me.

Outfit + Etsy Farm Finds

Before I begin, awkward moment:
I was looking at some vintage skirts on Etsy, found a really cute skirt that is $23, and then realized I already own it. I bought it for $4 at the thrift store. I briefly considering posting about it, but I thought the shop owner might get mad at me. I guess I shouldn't be so cynical... maybe it cost her more at the thrift shop she got it from? Anyways, I felt a little weird.

Anyhow, onto the real blog:
March 31-
Today I feel like a milkmaid. There's just something about the blue and white checkered skirt that make me want to have a hoedown and put my hair back in braids (thankfully I didn't take it quite that far).

In honor of my milkmaid attire, let's take a trip to the farm today, shall we?

The Queen covers Schön!

This cover really speaks to me. The pearly and furry white appeal to my own dress sensibilities while age and vulnerable strength have been issues I've been mulling over these last days. Furthermore, she is closing her eyes, but sternly and trusting, perhaps in a slightly disapproving slant - I detect no fear nor uncertainty in her features, closing her eyes - and I on some level wish were my eyes; not in ignorance but avoidance that does hence not imply bliss- to what is happening to beloved Great Britain that is so destructive, that I am looking at with wide, pained eyes.

A truly deep and composed cover, Schön! To view the rest of the magazine online, go to where the "Energy of Nineteen" guards the pages of beauty for us.

Amusing Words from a Wednesday - Updated

1. Upon seeing a shirt with a cartoon penguin on the front, along with the words "Save the Penguins"...
My Grandma: "Oh, 'Save the Penguins.' Of course, that always reminds me of that story about the little girl who read a book about penguins. And when her dad asked her what she thought of the book, she said it was good, but it really taught her more about penguins than she ever wanted to know."

My grandma has a story for everything. Everything. She's like 87, though, so it's pretty cute.

2. Upon listening to the radio at work...
Lady on the Radio: "Time for the gender game! OK, I want to see how many men can call in and name 4 brands of makeup."
Male Caller #1: "MAC..."
Lady on the Radio: "MAC? No, I don't have that one on my list. Do you know any others?"
a few minutes later...
Male Caller #2: "Uhm, Estee Lauder, Clinique, MAC..."
Lady on the Radio: "MAC? What is MAC? You're the second person to say MAC. How do you spell it?"
Make Caller #2: "Uh, M-A-C. It's a makeup brand they have at Nordstroms. I've seen it there before."
Lady on the Radio: "Oh, well I've never heard of it before. I guess you learn something new every day."
Leanna: "ARE YOU KIDDING?!?"

3. Upon seeing a stuffed bear for sale in the shop...
Adorable little girl with brown curly hair and a British accent: "Please, papa, can I have it? I want to cuddle with him."

^Just say it out loud in your best British accent and imagine you are 3 years old and have precious brown curls. You will make yourself melt.

4. Upon reading me complain that my white tights are like the same color as my legs in my latest outfit blog...
Marie @ Lemondrop Vintage: "At least you ARE wearing white tights. The opposite has happened to me, compliment on the tights but they actually were my legs."

I hope you are OK with me posting that, Marie. It just made me giggle a bit. :)

ETA - I just read this online and I had to add it:
5. Upon being asked what she thinks of Rebecca Black and that darn Friday song...
Miley Cyrus: "It should be harder to be an artist. You shouldn't just be able to put up a video on YouTube and go on tour."

1... 2... 3...
HAHAHAHA.
Because everyone knows Miley worked hard for years and years and played in a bunch of crummy bars and sang on street corners with the dream of one day becoming a star! No way jose did she become famous for having a famous dad. Girl has worked hard and she wants you to know it!
Sarcasm Off.

Vestidos de Festa! Looks Comportados

Outfits: Cheap Skirts are the Best Skirts

March 29-
This skirt was one of the many goodies I picked up on my thrifting venture the other day. I know it's probably not everyone's cup of tea, but boy oh boy do I love it. Long, pleated, black... and it even has pockets! I also love skirts that have belt loops on them because it makes it so much easier to get it tight around the waist. And the fact that it cost me a whopping $1.49 doesn't hurt my love for it either.

March 30-
Cutest belt ever, am I right? I'm not sure why it had never crossed my mind to look at the belt section at the thrift store before my most recent trip. There were so many cute ones! I'm lucky to have escaped with only 5...

I was just noticing that you can't even tell I'm wearing white tights and that it just looks like I have super pale legs. Well, I suppose I do have super pale legs, but still. This is not a good sign. I need Mr. Sun to come back to me soon!

Hello!

Update On My Boss

Hey everyone! Just wanted to let you all know that Tiffany is doing much better (if you don't know what I'm talking about, read about it here). She has regained a lot of mobility in her right side... still not fine motor skills, but she's improving more and more each day and can walk with the help of a walker. She has also recovered the ability to speak, thank goodness! There is a delay before she speaks, as she has to really think through what she's going to say before she says it (which, as her husband joked, more people should probably try out sometime), but for the most part she's back to normal in that respect.
Tiffany, her husband, and their two sons.
They did another MRI on her brain, and it actually came back showing the same amount of damage on her brain as there was a few days ago when she had the air embolism/stroke. Apparently the other, undamaged parts of her brain have really been kicking in and taking over, allowing her to move her right side again and speak. What an incredible thing the brain is! God really knew what He was doing when he designed that one, eh?

Tiffany is going to be doing in-patient rehab in Portland until the end of this week, and then hopefully she will be able to return home to continue rehabilitation here in our town.

Another answer to prayer is that Tiffany has a cousin that has volunteered to work 1 day a week for me! Starting next week, I will get Wednesdays off. And let me tell you, I am so stinking excited. I am going to sleep the whole day I think.

Anyways, thank you all again for the kind words, thoughts, and prayers!

Rabbits!

An Art.com catalog came in the mail today.
There were two prints I liked, the above Rabbit Hat
and the below Follow Your Heart
These remind me of an argument my daughter and her
best friend had when they were about three...
while looking at a photo of a white furry creature.

"It's a rabbit!"
"No, it's a bunny!"
"Rabbit!"
"Bunny!"

Each girl knowing that they were the correct one.

SICKLY

Woke up Sunday SICK SICK SICK.

I have so much I need to get done this week...
that's a lie.

I have a shitton of school work I need to get done by Wednesday at 530.
FML to the max.

I cannot believe I'm this sick.

DAMMIT 4 hours of sleep!
It's now finally catching up to me.

Leanna Takes Down the Thrift Store

Yesterday on the way to Costco after church, we drove past St. Vincent de Paul, my favorite thrift store in the whole world. I made a sad remark about how long it's been since I've got to go shopping there. Just as we were driving by, I saw signs out front with every shopaholics favorite words: "HUGE SALE. ALL CLOTHING 50% OFF!". Needless to say, I almost died on the spot. So after getting grapes and candy at Costco, going home for lunch, and changing into a thrifting-appropriate outfit (Jeans, Toms, sweater), it was on to the thrift store for me. I spent about 2 hours poking around and trying on clothes. Glorious, glorious day.

You know you are a hardcore shopper when you are literally sore the next day. My right arm is seriously on fire this morning. I used it is a clothes rack while I was wandering around pulling things to try on, and at one point I literally had 20 items hanging on my arm. I am quite sure I must have looked ridiculous, but hey, if that's what a girl has to do to get good deals on clothes then it's a small price to pay.

In the end, this is what I came home with.
5 Belts:

1 Dress: (Don't worry, I'm going to do a bit of tailoring and hemming to make it cuter.) (More cute?)

1 Scarf:
 1 Pair of Shorts:
 5 Skirts:

And 4 Tops:
So for those playing along at home, that is 17 items. And my total cost?
$32

Roughly $1.88 per item. Thank you thrift store!

Sorry about the erratic lighting in the pics. I was too lazy to fix it. :)

Outfits: An Unfavorable Shirt

March 26th (Sat.)-
I really do not like this shirt. I got it for cheap at the thrift store, but after I got home I decided I didn't like it anymore and haven't worn it. But the other day my mom was pointing out that I have a lot of clothes in my closet that I never wear, so I made it my goal on Saturday to wear something I hadn't worn before. All in all I think it turned out OK, but I'm thinking this shirt will probably be making its way back to whence it came pretty soon. I adore this jacket, though. It's not going anywhere.

March 28th (Today)-
Soo in love with this skirt. Light and long, and it even has pockets! I got it from Vintch. My mom thinks it looks like something she wore in the 80s. Well, that's probably because it is exactly like what she wore in the 80s. I don't think my mom likes to think that the clothes she wore when she was younger are now considered vintage. :) Too bad she didn't hang on to some of her old clothes... it would have saved me some money!
